UCI MIND is an Organized Research Unit focusing on basic and clinical research in the fields of brain aging and cognitive disorders. Our mission is to discover means to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. UCI MIND is committed to community education with the goals of keeping the community informed of our progress, sharing learnings that can help community members reduce their risk for dementia.
The Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders is a multidisciplinary ORU integrating several departments and schools on the main campus. Under general supervision the Administrative Specialist serves as an integral part of the administrative team of the ORU. The incumbent will provide executive level support to several key individuals including the Institute Director, the Director of Clinical Research, and the development team. The incumbent will perform a wide variety of analytical and administrative duties that support the day-to-day operations of the program and promote the success of clinical research.
Compensation Range:
$27.45/hr - $44.07/hr

Required:
• Skill to organize, analyze, and problem-solve so as to support the unit's professional objectives. • Ability to work independently; demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills. • Skills to write concise, logical and grammatically correct documents and business correspondence. • Ability and aptitude to quickly learn new software skills. • Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. • Working knowledge of HP, MAC computers including Microsoft office, excel, power point, database, and Internet applications. • Skill in maintaining calendars and scheduling travel, meetings, conferences, and seminars ensuring that all preparations are complete. • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply administrative policies and procedures to daily operations. • Ability to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, campus administrators, and professionals in outside agencies, corporations, and other universities. • Political acumen sufficient to understand both apparent and implied hierarchy and to deal appropriately with persons at all levels of the hierarchy.
