Contemporary Art & Design Gallery in West Hollywood is in search of a freelance art handler who will be responsible for the safe, professional handling of art and design works. The candidate must be proficient with all aspects of installation and de-installation, packing, and unpacking. Successful candidates will also have a knowledge of best practices and materials for handling, installing, and packing works of fine art.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Installation of canvas and framed works

- Installation of furniture works

- Packing ceramic, canvas, and framed works, along with furniture works for transit and storage

- Loading works in and out of trucks for transit

- Ensure safe procedures are being used at all times in the handling, preparation, and display of artworks

- Patch and paint walls and pedestals in the gallery

Requirements:

- Be able to perform physical tasks, including bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, walking, standing for long periods of time, and lifting 50 pounds or more

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team

- Ability to climb and work on ladders

- Able to use basic math skills

- Attention to detail

- Awareness of safe practices when handling works of art

- Ability to commute to the gallery: Los Angeles, CA 90069

- Ability to stretch and unstretch canvas is a plus

- Ability to make local deliveries is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
