Career Navigator/Missouri Work Assistance (MWA)
This position reports directly to the MWA Program Manager. The individual will execute and coordinate activities that facilitate enrollment in work activities, completion of training and successful retention for MWA clients. The activities include but are not limited to:
Primary Objective: The Career Navigator/Outreach is responsible for providing career counseling/recruitment services for potential FEC clientele.
Job Duties
- Contact all MWA partner referrals to schedule initial appointments as well as next steps.
- Respond to MWA participants who inquire about service information via the FEC website.
- Update referral reporting information in real time.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for MWA participants with MWA staff.
- Liaise and coordinate with MWA team about schedules, participants and any changes
- Distribute program information and applications to MWA participants.
- Collect required program documents.
- Mail MWA Call-In letters, recruitment flyers, other
- Resolve scheduling conflicts as they occur.
- Back-Up for MWA Career Exploration Workshop presentations.
- Submit weekly reports.
- Work effectively with placement and career readiness team members to
- Insure a customer friendly transition from intake, to training, to placement.
- Assist and guide clients in developing training and employment strategies that lead to career oriented employment.
- Provides pre-employment and post-employment services to help Customers achieve their career goals. Conducts orientation on FEC services
- Conducts assessments of various FEC clientele.
- Provides follow-up of FEC clientele to ensure retention in training programs, employment, and that team, individual and agency goals are exceeded
- Provides follow-up services to FEC clientele
- Ensure clients are properly enrolled into workforce data system according to agency policy
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of the MoJobs and MWA systems and MWA program
Adequate working knowledge of computers and FEC data system
Follow-up counseling technique
Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds and economic situations
Demonstrated ability to work with management, peers, and subordinates
Excellent communication and writing skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to be proactive and an effective problem solver
Ability to work in a cohesive fashion those results in the accomplishments of goals and objectives and results in the motivation and support of team members as well as related stakeholders
Computer skills are essential
Strong interpersonal, communication and phone skills to support team effort and needs of organization.
Must be able to handle a high volume of calls
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in regards to the operations of the Missouri Career
Center/Full Employment Council
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience at the leadership or functional level, dependent upon position. Experience in sociology or related field preferred but not required; in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, may have significant experience or substitute one year in the area of each year for a degree, experience executing FEC programs or similar programs in counseling follow-up activities
Must be able to pass a background check
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and auto insurance
Must be able to travel
