Job description

We are seeking a competent personal care assistant to support an incomplete quadriplegic gentleman who needs assistance with activities of daily living, as well as assistance with at-home rehabilitation therapy. Your support wil be the key to providing independence. If you are a compassionate, positive person who isn’t afraid to work hard, then this is a job for you. We need you to be polite, a good communicator and able to follow directions. Paid training will be provided.

This is a 15 - 22 hour PART-TIME EVENING AND/OR WEEKENDS position. Monday-Friday 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Saturday/Sunday 3 - 4 hours are flexible.

Responsibilities

• Provide client with assistance as needed, including helping with bathing and other personal hygiene activities
• Transfers to and from bed; wheelchair; shower chair
• Perform household duties including running errands, light cleaning, cooking and laundry
• Actively engage client through conversation and companionship
• Provide care across a variety of settings, including community activities and family functions
• Follow care plan
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
• All other duties specified by client

Skills

• Proven experience as personal care assistant
• Hoyer lift experience (preferred)
• Committed to health & safety
• Able to do housework and cooking
• Well-organized and reliable
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Positive and compassionate attitude
• Strong ethics
• Physical stamina
• CPR/First Aid certified
• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
