POSITION OVERVIEW

The First Baptist Church of Glenarden has a vacancy for a full-time Chief Engineer. The incumbent is a results-oriented team player with a solid audio, video, & lighting (AVL) technical experience, a good understanding of the AVL, streaming, and event production industry, and strong communication and people skills. A calm listener and problem solver, who can represent FBCG Productions well with clients, vendors, and freelancers. Serve as lead engineer and effectively manage production crews and troubleshoot AVL and streaming systems. Sunday is a required full workday.


The Chief Engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day management of the AVL equipment and hybrid rooms to ensure quality and timely installation, operation, and maintenance of digital AVL recording and streaming systems. The position encompasses AVL maintenance, installations, project management, research and evaluation of new products and technologies, training, and in-house and customer support responsibilities. The Chief Engineer reports to the Assistant Director of Productions.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair video systems for live services/program rehearsals/events, video, streaming and recording, including field, control room, and master control hardware and software, lighting, LED Display Wall and mapping, IMAG, live multi-camera switching & recording.
  • Set equipment configurations, schematics, labeling, purchasing/renting, budget planning/management/quotes/invoices. Direct responsibility for assisting the selection and purchasing of all AVL equipment for multiple locations
  • Supervising all facilities on installation, implementation, and maintenance of all AVL equipment within multiple locations.
  • Maintenance of equipment, repair, installation of AVL systems, wiring and mounting of all equipment.
  • Travel independently in a defined routine or travel as business needs dictate
  • Work with multiple site managers and will require working closely with our production team.
  • Collaborate with production and support teams to provide direction/support, streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and enhance the overall user experience
  • This position will expand as the team grows, and the Chief Engineer will manage AV Engineer, and Streaming Media Technician.
  • Provide after hours as business needs arise.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be saved, have a servant’s heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG.
  • Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.
  • Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
  • Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and the mission of FBCG.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, have the ability to bend from the waist, reach overhead, twist, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. without restriction.
  • Must have the ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while working under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of safe working loads, safety factors and rigging principles.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written is essential; must be able to speak fluent English
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, think quickly on your feet, be a problem solver.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter who takes and demonstrates imitative.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and effectively multi-task
  • Ability to work flexible hours and between multiple locations.
  • Relevant experience working in the media production, also preferred in a church environment.
  • Possess an understanding of AVL and control flow, computers and router/wireless networking, streaming, calibrating equipment, control and video distribution, and DSP programming skills, preferred.
  • Familiarity with (installing and programing) various digital audio consoles, speaker systems, video switchers, video walls, lighting consoles, video conferencing, video cameras, smart TVs, and streaming systems, preferred.
  • Must pass a hands-on skills test on-site.
  • Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice as needed.
