Position Summary:
The Clinical Support RN is a bachelor’s prepared nurse who is responsible for the assessment, planning, training, implementation, evaluation and optimization of nursing informatics projects. She/he serves as the primary interface between nursing, patient care services, and Information Technology to ensure multi- and inter-disciplinary project coordination. She/he also participates in communications and project planning regarding system implementation and integration with other SMC initiatives. She/he is knowledgeable about the nursing process and nursing practice, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement. The nursing informatics projects are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible nursing care.
Coordinates the development and maintenance of a program of infection surveillance and control.
The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Responsibilities:
1. Employs information system life cycle and other tools to analyze data and systems requirements.
2. Transforms data and information into actionable knowledge and wisdom utilizing multiple information and analytical sciences.
3. Provides leadership, consultation, and direction for information technology that impacts clinical information management from planning through evaluation.
4. Serves as a bridge between clinical departments and other institutional groups, linking clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care.
5. Coordinates the change management process, including revising workflows and standardizing policies to successfully implement automated systems.
6. Identifies clinical practice workflow and process issues, provides guidance to define support and requirements that will optimize system performance and technology utilization by clinical caregivers.
7. Translates data into information of value for leadership's decision of strategic recommendations for program development and action plans
8. Consults with the Summit Committee of the Whole concerning the Informatics Department.
9. Develops and updates policies related to nursing informatics.
10. Fosters a spirit of inquiry and participates in research endeavors as appropriate.
11. Identifies hospital and community acquired infections and assesses problems to make recommendations for corrective action plans.
12. Informs authorities of reportable diseases.
13. Investigates clusters of infections or changes in patterns or infection.
14. Identifies and evaluates relationship of environmental factors to infection and reports recommendations for corrective action when needed.
15. Supports hospital infection control policies and interprets them for staff and students.
16. Plans, develops, and implements educational programs and seminars
17. Maintains confidentiality of center related business
18. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees
19. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
20. Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business.
21. Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
1. Holds a current Oklahoma state license as a Registered Nurse.
2. Completion of a basic training program for infection prevention.
3. Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance.
4. Two years of clinical experience in appropriate area.
5. Leadership Experience Preferred

Pay: $31.00 - $33.50 per hour
