Overview:
The S. J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources is looking for a Communications Assistant with an interest in science, natural resources, and the environment. The position includes managing content on the USU website system (Omni CMS), as well as working with faculty and students to write articles, press releases, media alerts, web content and social media posts. It includes some responsibility for designing visual assets such as flyers, infographics and screen displays and maintaining events calendars. Candidates should be interested in diverse science topics and be able to communicate with a wide range of audiences. The position offers flexibility in the weekly schedule.
Responsibilities:
  • Write about a wide range of topics as assigned
  • Willingness to learn website system to manage and update content
  • Become familiar with QCNR programs, faculty research, and events
  • Photograph people and events for stories and social media as needed
  • Assist with other projects and duties as assigned
  • Prioritize and meet deadlines
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated journalistic writing ability – must provide writing samples
  • Familiarity with Omni CMS or similar website content management system
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms
  • Basic skills with Adobe Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Ability to work independently and collectively with a creative team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Video shooting and editing skills

Advertised Salary: $20.00 per hour ADA:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
