Job description
The Data Scientist will provide analysis and develop algorithms and software for Professor Wenyi Wang's lab in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Dr. Wang's laboratory performs research aiming to gain new knowledge in the evolution of the human genome as well as the cancer genome.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Pipeline maintenance:

  • Maintains and develops bulk and single-cell DNA, RNA data processing pipelines..

Protocol and agreement management:

  • Maintains and develops research protocols and data access agreements.

Software development:

  • Maintains and further develops the lab's software packages, in collaboration with students and postdocs in the lab.

Sequencing data analysis:

  • Performs single cell and bulk sequencing data analysis, including data QC and initial processing, for data generated by in-house and by large-scale consortia.

Computing management:

  • Manages software and data stored on the lab's partition on the institute's high-performance computing infrastructure.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.

Preferred: Masters or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With Master's degree, one years experience required. With PhD, no experience required.
