Hours: M-F 9am to 5pm

Full Time, 40 hours per week


Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers provide culturally-competent comprehensive primary care, and state of the art HIV primary care to low-income members of the community, along with research, consumer education, advocacy, social services, and outreach to people living with HIV and those who are at high risk, including family members, communities with high rates of HIV, formerly incarcerated persons, and young people at risk; and access to the most advanced clinical research in HIV treatment and prevention.


The Critical Path Learning Center at Philadelphia FIGHT is an educational commons and consumer health library devoted to the intersection of health and literacy in a digital era. We nurture life-long learning through meaningful, non-judgmental access to education, information and knowledge through the expertise of our interdisciplinary team. Job Responsibilities


The Digital Literacy Instructor (DLI) is responsible for teaching a range of digital literacy classes from beginning through advanced levels computer skills and applications. An understanding of adult learning theory and teaching best practices, and a commitment to supporting low-income people to access information using tech tools. This position will provide digital education needs of our participants throughout FIGHT programing in order to ensure participants are able to access and utilize digital programing. Instruction will include on-on-one and groups.


Digital Literacy Instruction

  • Facilitate and teach workshops and computer classes in computer and internet fundamentals, specific computer applications, and accessing and understanding how to use online health information based on Philadelphia FIGHT's already developed curriculum.
  • Design, develop and work with key CPLC staff to implement curricula and digital literacy classes as determined by program needs, funder requirements, and supervisor.
  • Staff the Commons Information Desk and provider support to Critical Path Learning Center visitors. Connecting individuals to programing and completing referrals as needed.
  • Provide one-on-one digital literacy support for participants both in person, online, and through the phone.
  • Assist Learning Center patrons in using the technology in the space, including desktops, iPads, laptops, and various cell phones.
  • Coordinate instruction for assistance on digital tools with other FIGHT programs including technically support to Project TEACH.
  • Collaborate with all education programing and Critical Path Learning Center staff to ensure that the digital needs and training for participants is provided.
  • Provide digital navigation services for patrons and learners with the Critical Path Learning Center. Connect individuals to the best digital resources for their needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support for all digital tools connected to health up to and including telehealth visits and patient portal training.
  • Review curriculum at minimum quarterly to ensure the most accurate and up to date information, update and modify to reflect changes.
  • Track and keep up-to-date student attendance, progress, and participant files as determined by the program requirements, funder, and supervisor.
  • Implement and assist in maintain tools to recruit and retain students

Program and Administrative Support

  • Maintain all IT equipment for classes and track the IT equipment in the CPLC including iPads, smart phones, and any other tools used in the delivery of classes.
  • Assist in developing marketing and outreach materials for programmatic needs.
  • Update and maintain all Critical Path Learning Center social media.
  • Assist and support other Education and Training Department programs as necessary and work with other FIGHT staff to best serve Learning Center users who also make use of other FIGHT programs.
  • Attend team and agency meetings as determined by role and supervisor.
  • Attend supervision prepared and on time with an agenda.
  • Work and support Education Department wide events such as AIDS Education Month and the Prison Healthcare and Re-Entry Summit, including some weekends, evenings, and/or early morning hours.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications


Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS required.
  • Experience teaching digital literacy classes and/or teaching low-income, or low-literacy populations required.
  • Experience working with racially, economically, sexually, and gender-diverse populations as well as low-literacy populations is required
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be energized working in a collaborative environment; they will be flexible, self-motivated, organized, able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong digital literacy required; knowledge of e-learning tools a plus.
