Duolingo is looking for a skilled and experienced content adapter and expert in the Spanish language who has full professional proficiency in Spanish, strong working proficiency in English, and experience writing and/or translating content for literacy learning materials. This is a temporary freelance position (no benefits included). All work will be conducted remotely and hours are flexible.

You will...

• Help adapt English language learning materials to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking children (ages 4-8) at the targeted reading levels.
• Review English stories and exercises and create corresponding Spanish adaptations while inspecting for spelling, grammar, style, consistency, and natural language use.
• Use your English to Spanish translation expertise, strong attention to detail, and sense of humor to ensure high-quality, engaging reading experiences for young Spanish-speaking children.

You Have...

• Native or near-native Spanish fluency
• Strong working proficiency in English
• B.A. in Spanish, translation, linguistics, or other relevant field
• Experience translating, reviewing, and/or writing content for children ages 4-8
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Basic computer skills (Google docs, spreadsheets)
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work at least 30 hours a week

Exceptional Candidates Will Have...

• Experience teaching Spanish literacy or creating leveled reading materials
• Experience in English to Spanish translation
• Background in creative writing
