POSITION SUMMARY

The Estimating Manager manages associates in the estimating department supporting customers in specified regional locations driving profitable growth while remaining consistent with the company's Sales Process and Bidding policies.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Manage associates in the Estimating Department, balance scheduling and workload to meet customer needs and maximize profitability.
  • Work with Sales Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop effective pricing / bid strategies.
  • Preliminary review and interpretation of all projects / documents.
  • Log and track all projects, including maintaining visual management boards.
  • Coordinate with Sales to communicate all bid (no bid) information to customers.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain a working relationship with key customers and influencers, and participate in activities necessary to close orders including customer calls/communication and travel as necessary to attend customer and project meetings.
  • Ensure that the bid proposal and other information being provided to the customer accurately define the price and scope of work being provided.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Manager to develop business plans for the region.
  • Set departmental strategy, goals and direction participating in the development of short and long-term Operational Plans. Assist in the development and maintenance of the departmental budget.
  • Develop talent to support achieving the goals of the department and organization.
  • Create a culture to drive profitable growth.
  • Foster collaborative culture both within and across departments.
  • Develop and implement excellence in process and continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Process Improvement projects.
  • Leverage synergies across historical value streams.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, business, or finance. Minimum of five years’ experience in a technical or commercial management position, preferably for a recognized manufacturer. Estimating or design engineering experience is required.

Experience with Wausau or in the commercial window/curtainwall industry preferred.

SKILL and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability and willingness to lead, motivate and develop others through teambuilding and continuous improvement practices.
  • Financial aptitude to fully understand pricing strategy and profitability impact.
  • Knowledge of construction management documents (specifications, contracts, etc.) and value engineering.
  • Highly motivated with proven results in previous positions.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to delegate workload to meet deadlines.
  • Multi-task oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of Wausau product lines, manufacturing processes and limitations, engineering process (submission and production) and/or distribution channels preferred.
  • Ability to professionally present information in a persuasive manner, build relationships and promote Wausau’s features and product benefits.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has direct supervisory responsibility for the estimating staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.

Travel requirements are occasional.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
