Job description
North Shore Gas, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Field Coordinator Apprentice in our Waukegan, Illinois location. This position is covered by the labor agreement between the company and Local 2285. In addition to paid time off, health, life, dental and retirement benefits, this position also offers a competitive pay rate starting at 27.50 per hour.
Job Summary
In this position you'll have the opportunity to inspect and direct contractor work associated with main and service installations restorations or general maintenance.
Job Responsibilities
- Using construction design specifications, inspect and direct outside underground contractor work of gas mains and services and or project restoration work to ensure that they are installed in accordance with all company and industry standards.
- Prepare all documents of construction such as daily progress report, all work tickets and drawing of projects as needed.
- Requisition company material for job and coordinate pick up and delivery. Reconciles or balance material drawn out, material used and material returned
- Responsible for all safety on the job site and in the public way while working and also at the close of the work day.
- Performs physical work including walking distances, climbing up and down ladders, using tapelines, measuring wheels and basic survey equipment such as a construction level.
- Communicates verbally and in writing to shop personnel, contractors, customers and construction management to ensure operational success.
- Performs work functionally in Excel, Word, Microsoft Project and other "Expert Systems" used in the construction process
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years Standard computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- 1+ years experience in interpreting and applying construction design specifications
- Valid Drivers License

- Basic construction experience
