Pariser Dermatology Specialists has been providing dermatology services to the Hampton Roads community for over 75 years. Today, Pariser Dermatology Specialists has six locations across Hampton Roads and is one of the largest independent dermatology practices in the country.

We currently have an open position for a Histotechnician. The ideal candidate has prior dermatology and/or IHC experience. Candidates must be able to travel to our Norfolk and Newport Newport News offices on a set schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Embed all tissue into paraffin bricks to be cut
• Cut paraffin sections for H&E, IHC and special stains
• Label slides with patient identifiers ( name, date, layer)
• Load slides on stainer, troubleshoot stainer and change chemicals
• Coverslip H&E’s, IHC and special stains
• Maintain daily QA log.
• Maintain daily stain (H&E) control documentation
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
• Change reagents on processor weekly as well as cleaning and maintenance of Ventana benchmark
• QC all special stains, H&E’s and IHC
• Gross specimens into the lab from in practice providers
• Transcribe specimens into the EHR

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accredited facility is preferred
• Prior IHC experience is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills; friendly and engaging self-starter that works well in high pressure situations
• Ability to problem solve in a strong, confident manner

Education and Certification

• ASCP HT or HTL certification is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a science is required
