Summary:
The purpose of the HR Generalist position is to support managers and associates throughout the employment life cycle with the goal of promoting the DFC corporate culture and achieving the Company’s vision of becoming the “Go To” employer. Primary responsibilities involve deploying personal knowledge and application of best practices in the areas of recruitment and selection (assisting when necessary), onboarding, associate relations, general support of payroll and benefit inquiries, and regulatory compliance relative to employment, training, working environment, benefits and pay practices, etc. This is a hybrid position located in Kansas City, Missouri.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provides consultation or support in staffing, screening and interviewing new team members.
- Participates in the new associate orientation process by facilitating planned presentation material. Tracks and monitors new associate onboarding.
- Gathers data regarding the associate experience at various points in the associate career life cycle, for example onboarding and exit surveys. Make recommendations to ensure continuous improvement of the associate experience.
- Partners with management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations.
- Ensures delivery of superior client service by personally resolving issues, answering questions, or liaising with other colleagues in the resolution of various payroll, benefits, or other employment-related issues.
- Conducts regular meetings with respective business unit managers.
- Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate. Support management efforts to build a high performing workforce both in execution of job duties and coworker interactions by facilitating activities that enhance collaboration and successful performance. Support coaching plans and coaching models with the goal of positive performance management outcomes.
- Identify turnover risks, such as voluntary resignations and poor performance. Support managers in proactively Identify high performing associates and assist with development plans
- Coordinate with the various HR functional areas, where appropriate, to provide expert level service in response to various associate needs, such as payroll issues, family/medical leave, disability accommodations and training.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Manages and resolves common to complex associate relations issues to include formal investigations.
- Facilitates HR-related training to the workforce and to managers on HR subject matters.
- Facilitate exit interviews and facilitate the exit processes to include responses to unemployment claims, participation in unemployment hearings, managing termination meetings, etc. Handles criminal background reports and pre-hire assessments according to department process.

- Maintains professional knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of associates, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Actively pursues self-development on HR trends, improvement of soft skills, business acumen, etc.
- Ensure department/branch compliance with Labor Law posters, FLSA wage and hour laws, OSHA safety regulations and ensure HR best practices are being adopted.
- Maintains confidentiality of personnel matters.
- Tasks may require occasional travel to local or out-of-state branches which are covered by Company travel policy.
- Ensure work premises constitutes a safe work environment that promotes positive bank image, including regular inspection for and remediation of any hazardous conditions; regular maintenance and cleaning of premises; adherence to all posting requirements in jurisdiction, including human resources and compliance postings; and provision of comfortable and appropriate space for associates to conduct banking business.

- Completes other specified duties as assigned.
