The HR Generalist provides human resources and administrative support services. Under the guidance of the Executive Officer, the Human Resource Generalist exercises a high degree of initiative and independence in performing human resource work in the areas of recruitment and selection, compensation, and benefits administration, performance management, training and development, and other human resource functions within the Department of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responds to inquiries from employees; provide guidance regarding employment issues, classification procedures, benefits administration, processes, and/or related concerns.

Develops, evaluates, and implements policies and procedures.

Function as an HR consultant to clients regarding employment law, EEO, and other related HR laws.

Respond to inquiries from managers and supervisors regarding employee issues, human resource policies, practices, procedures, and benefits.

Evaluate existing programs in assigned areas and make recommendations for improvement or change to meet present or future needs.

Work closely with clients; employees, Workers' Compensation provider; and related personnel, to facilitate the timely reporting of industrial accidents and illnesses.

Research policies, laws, and procedures to respond to requests for information; explain and apply interpretations of human resources procedures, policies, and rules.

Participate in ensuring human resources programs and activities are administered and implemented in compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Have 3-5+ years of experience in Human Resources and recruiting experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in related field, a PHR certification is preferred but not required.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, client management, outside agencies, and the public.

Technical principles and practices of human resources management.

Computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and HRIS systems.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to human resources.

Perform a full range of technical and administrative work of a specialized nature involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative.

Provide technical human resources management services independently in the absence of supervision.
