ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strives for a Safe and Secure working environment for all team members
  • Focuses heavily on ‘Accident Prevention'
  • Strives to have both locations free from recordable incidents
  • Utilizes the Brake Supply Safety Manual on the intranet as the basis for all safety instructions
  • Oversees the development/training of team members to perform safety audits
  • Assures compliance through monthly safety audits of the Casper location
  • Work with the Casper Operations Manager to assure all department managers are completing monthly safety audits
  • Work with SE Director on the following-
o Assure regulatory compliance to external and internal standards; in addition to driving participation in industry certification programs i.e. VPP (Voluntary Protection Program), SHARPS

o Assure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules

o Responsible for overseeing the training required by OSHA is conducted regularly per regulations

o Processing workers compensation claims

  • Oversees the coordination of response to emergency situations
  • Responsible for keeping management aware of the status of safety activities – shop and office related
  • Responsible for branch safety KPIs and trend analysis
  • Develop and train team leaders to deliver a high intensity safety minded culture
  • Understands and promotes Behavior Based Safety
  • Assures high levels of management commitment and employee engagement
  • Other safety duties logically associated with the position may be assigned
  • Maintaining all certifications, permits and files required by EPA for the Casper and Elko locations.
  • Complete monthly environmental audits of the Casper location
  • Work with the Casper Operations Manager to assure all branch managers are completing monthly environmental audits
  • Lead Department Managers to comply with and support the environmental needs of the organization
  • Oversee the coordination of response to emergency environmental situations
  • Assure all EPA and OSHA mandated programs and plans are reviewed, revised, and implemented
  • Responsible for overseeing any training required by OSHA and EPA and conducted regularly if required by regulation
  • Responsible and accountable for providing the required EPA training documentation for all personnel
  • Direct partnership on all environmental items supporting our ESG (environmental, social, governance) commitments and reporting
  • Other environmental duties logically associated with the position may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of current company and applicable OSHA standards
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations relative to safety and environmental policies

  • Ability to effectively present information to new hires, team leaders, and other team members
  • Ability to objectively coach team members and management through complex and difficult issues
  • Have ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Have ability to research and analyze various types of data and information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma and (2) years of safety and environmental experience, or any similar combination of education and experience is required.

A basic understanding of ISO structure and requirements.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, and other team members of the organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
