About us

El Jefe's Taqueria at the Yard in New Brunswick is hiring a Kitchen Manager that will work four - 11 hour shifts a week, with three days off. We value a strong work/life balance and believe our staff is better when that balance is maintained.

We are a fast casual authentic Mexican restaurant that serves only the highest quality food at affordable prices. This will be a high-volume sales location with a staff of 30-35 employees.

We are also a fast-growing company that highly values its team members, with the possibility of career advancement in the coming years. We have eight locations, four in the Boston area, one in Bethlehem PA , one in State College PA and one in Pittsburgh.

Kitchen Manager

Salary: $50,000-$55,000

Benefits: Heath, dental, paid sick leave, 2 weeks’ vacation years 1-5, and 3-weeks’ vacation after your 5th year, plus an annual bonus structure.

Job requirements:

Minimum of 1 year Kitchen Management experience.

Experience/skills needed:

  • Hiring and managing staff in a respectful professional manner
  • Food and supply ordering
  • Inventory control and managing food costs and labor cost
  • Training and managing prep staff and line cooks
  • Food quality control and portion control
  • Basic Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills necessary, with a willingness to develop strong skills.
  • Food safety and serve safe certificate
  • Team builder and leader
  • Hands on approach to management, willing to step in to help as needed in all areas of the restaurant
  • Ability to problem solve and be flexible
  • Spanish language skills helpful but not necessary
