Loan Underwriter - Automotive Industry
Job description
DEALFI, LLC is a fast-growing, veteran owned auto finance company in South Jordan, UT, adding a Loan Underwriter to our team, working from home. As DealFI’s Loan Underwriter, you are responsible for, among other things, reviewing credit applications received from dealerships, underwriting the loan, and ensuring in a timely manner that all documents required for funding are received, complete, accurate, and compliant with state and federal laws.
Your professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and attention to detail are necessary to efficiently underwrite consumer auto loans, as you work directly with a variety of customers including dealership owners, general and sales managers, customers, and financial institutions. You also help support the success of our affiliate company, Alpha Warranty Services, by recommending their vehicle protection products to our customers as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities
- Review credit applications, analyze credit risks, assess credit history, and qualify potential customers
- Soft sell financing, Alpha Warranty Service’s Vehicle Service Contracts, GAP and other protection products to consumers -product spiffs after 60-days and no sales quotas
- Utilize essential basic negotiation, follow-up and relationship building skills. Establish healthy and positive relationships with dealership personnel
- Make outbound and take inbound calls from dealerships and applicants to build relationships and capture business
- Understand obstacles that negatively impact customer satisfaction to make corresponding recommendations to management for improving satisfaction, process efficiency or procedures
- Develop dealer relationships to ensure volume objectives and credit quality
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with several finance sources
- Review and decision credit applications daily with excellent turnaround time
- Ensure 100% compliance with applicable policies and procedures and all state and federal laws and guidelines
- Understand team objectives and how the individual team member contributes to the overall team and department goal. Work diligently to help team reach goals, including assisting other teams in the department as needed.
- Understand and comply with the company's origination policies and procedures and ensure quality assessments meet established expectations of accuracy.
What you need for success:
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years previous Automotive Retail Sales and/or F&I Manager and/or F&I assistant experience
- Experience reviewing credit reports from the 3 credit bureau agencies
- Experience selling Vehicle Service Contracts, GAP and other protection products
- Experience negotiating consumer loan terms
- Sales skills necessary to develop and maintain productive dealer relationships
- Strong work ethic, integrity and accountability
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of inside or outside sales experience (auto finance industry preferred but not required)
- Experience analyzing and decisioning consumer auto loans or leases
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
