Manufacturing Engineer

Ridgeview Industries is a leading metal stamping and assembly supplier primarily serving the automotive market. Our privately held company, founded upon Christian principles, currently employs approximately 600 team members across 4 plant locations.

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work on-site at our Grand Rapids, MI. location with a customer service attitude and a positive personality. The ideal candidate for this role will have the following credentials.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop processes for the safe, efficient production of welded assemblies including robotic automated assembly processes.
  • Source tools and follow up with suppliers for quality, cost and timing of new weld tools and equipment.
  • Evaluate part quality and complete required feasibility studies supporting PPAP requirements.
  • Problem solve and recommend solutions for internal production issues and customer design issues.
  • Lead engineering projects to implement new products and new processes.
  • Design and implement tools and fixtures required for effective manufacturing.
  • Evaluate new equipment purchases and assist with process changes as required by engineering changes.
  • Provide expert level technical support to engineering and production teams.
  • Manage supplier quotes and data transfer for tools and equipment.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering / Weld Engineering / related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five to ten years of previous experience in welding manufacturing or robotic manufacturing assembly.
  • Previous experience sourcing equipment and weld tooling and can lead new equipment design and buy-off to ensure reliability and defect free assemblies.
  • Understands the integration of quality poka yoke systems in equipment and tooling.
  • Solid grasp of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, & Project.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of 3D CAD Software (Solidworks preferred) and GD&T.
  • Passion and discipline to develop and follow well defined procedures.
  • A proactive learner with desire to develop technical skills and critical business understanding.
  • Data driven approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communicator who can understand and deliver information in a clear, open, honest and accurate method in both an oral and written manner.
  • Dedicated to teamwork and putting the value of team success before individual interest.
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing preferred.
