Job description
The Materials Manager will oversee the raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory. They will lead planning of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.
As a Materials Manager, Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Participates in production planning and scheduling based on sales forecasts.
- Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Works with purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
- Acts as champion for root-cause analysis on inventory discrepancies across the platform.
- Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Establishes and maintains cycle count program; serves as lead for implementation across facilities with the goal of achieving a target inventory accuracy level.
- Supports operations with some buying responsibilities and acts as a back-up buyer.
- Travels periodically to company locations to train & facilitate inventory processes as well as collaborate on planning/scheduling.
- Develop and automate reports that track progress versus targets.
- Identify and develop best practices in Planning and Scheduling.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.
- 5 years of experience in materials management field is required.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Previous experience with ERP & WMS systems. NetSuite & RFSmart preferred.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on teamwork, and customer service.
