Position Summary
The Merchandise Manager directs and manages product assortments, pricing, margins, inventory and GMROI within the assigned merchandise departments to achieve company financial objectives. The incumbent is the primary contact with our suppliers and negotiates terms, rebates, advertising and general vendor agreements for the company. The incumbent works closely with the store operations group to ensure that merchandising, sales and profit objectives are achieved and is expected to be up to date on trends and competitive issues within the departments being managed.
Nature and Scope
The position reports to the Vice President of Merchandising along with replenishment buyers assigned to the incumbent’s department. The incumbent will manage several departments as assigned by the Vice President. Sales volume will vary with the assignment, but will average $18,000.000.
Accountabilities
Sales
· Develop merchandising and assortment strategies to maximize sales potential of assigned department(s).
· Work with store operations to develop store specific strategies.
· Develop promotional plans to support the companies advertising, merchandising and sales strategies.
Profit Generation
· Optimize pricing for the highest potential margin generation based upon sensitivity and competition.
· Negotiate the most favorable costs and overall vendor terms, etc.
· Manage the culling of non-performing products along with a markdown strategy.
Inventory Management
· Oversee the basic replenishment within the departments to maximize in-stock levels, sales and inventory turn.
· Ensure the timely delivery of seasonal and advertised merchandise.
· Ensure the timely phase out of seasonal / obsolete merchandise.
· Continual monitoring of underperforming merchandise.
Strategic
· Attend industry conventions and shows to ensure an overall understanding of industry trends, new product categories and new suppliers. Most of these are now being held virtually.
· Shop our competition to be aware of pricing, advertising and merchandising.
· Provide input to the executive team on the strategic direction of the departments and overall company.

Experience:
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Merchandise Manager, Category Merchant, Buyer or Product Procurement / Supply chain manager preferred. Additionally, 5 years of Home Improvement experience is also preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Equivalent experience. Candidate should also have expertise in Microsoft Office with a high proficiency in Excel. Epicor Eagle experience a plus.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
