Overview
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist maintains and processes payroll and benefits data and produces necessary tax filings and reports. Maintains proper accounting principles, labor and benefit policies and methods.
New employee starting bonus to be paid after 90 days of employment:
- Full-time positions: $250.00
- Part-time positions: $125.00
Base starting pay:
- $24.00/hr, commensurate with experience
Location:
- Chisholm, MN 55719/hybrid option
Available time types:
- Full-Time or Part-Time
Responsibilities
- Supports the Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of NHS Northstar
- Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures for safety, confidentiality of data, quality assurance, current rules and agency policies
- Assist with the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- Payroll and benefits processing
- Enter and verify payroll and benefits changes
- Verify time and wage entries
- Process payroll for all employees
- Process agency payments
- Quarterly payroll tax filing and wage reporting
- Payroll and benefits maintenance
- Orientation paperwork and benefit overview
- Assist employees with payroll and benefits questions
- Maintain employee benefits for active employees and employees on leave
- Maintain and process payroll change notice
- Back up for accounts payable, accounts receivable and client related finances
- Understand the general ledger, accounts and make necessary entries and adjustments, if requested
- Payroll and benefits processing
- Assist in pre-hire and onboarding processes
- Monitor and analyze payroll data and produce necessary reports
- Meet payroll and benefits objectives in a timely manner
- Support in implementing proper accounting policies and principles
- Assist with completion of annual audits
- Collaborate with operating divisions on payroll and benefit matters
- Ensure confidential data is protected
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience/Education/Training
- High school diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field; OR Associates Degree in accounting and two years of experience in a relevant position; OR four or more years of experience in a payroll position
- Two years of related experience, preferred
Regulatory Requirements/Licensure
- Valid Driver’s License
- Department of Human Services Background Check
