Product Engineer

Job Summary

The Product Engineer designs and develops new products or improve current products using engineering disciplines and tools such as Stage Gate, CAD, Validation, Product Release, etc. The goal is to produce products that meet IMMI targets for performance specifications, cost, and timing.

Responsibilities

· Able to manage multiple projects and assignments at one time and manage timelines independently

· Customer and supplier interaction and support required.

· Pursue new product development using Stage-Gate process. Complete all engineering activities within Stage-Gate process.

· Work collaboratively to execute projects with various internal competencies such as CAPE, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance.

· Support Customers with technical information and initiatives. This can include developing and/or creating design concepts, CAD models, prototypes, and technical reports/presentations.

· Engage with suppliers and outside contractors to accomplish key outsourcing activities like part sourcing or contract design.

· Develop and execute validation testing to qualify designs through the product development process.

· Gain peer and management product insight through informal and formal design reviews.

· Utilize design tools available to maximize development time while ensuring optimal product design.

Qualifications

· 5-10 years of experience in a product design and manufacturing environment

· Automotive or transportation-related interior design experience preferred

· Injection molded part design experience preferred (plastic or foam)

· Die casting and stamped part design experience preferred

· Experience with FMEAS, Test Reports, and other engineering documents and reports

· Proficient in CAD modeling/drawing systems required. SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred

· Experience with manufacturing processes, such as robotic welding, foam or plastic molding, stamping, forming, and assembly preferred

· Surface modeling experience is a plus, but not required

· Minimum associates degree, preferred bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other similar discipline.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
