Vanir is seeking a Project Director with proven leadership quality and strong communication skill who can build on our continued success in the education, local and state government, justice/essential service and water/wastewater sectors. To date, Vanir has delivered more than $25.8 billion in construction cost for owner-clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The primary duties of a successful Project Director will focus on leadership in areas of project management and operations overseeing one or multiple project teams, including client relations, marketing, internal administration, financial management and employee development. In addition to managing existing client relations and satisfaction, duties will include developing new work opportunities by identifying new leads, establishing new business contacts, potentially acting as a proposal champion and/or capture manager for new pursuits.
The Project Director will be responsible for project operations and management, including the ability to:
- Act in an advisory role assisting clients with initiating and setting goals for programs based on the strategic objectives
- Assist clients in planning programs from start to finish, including identifying processes, deadlines, costs, and milestones
- Lead program, project, and construction management efforts in accordance with clients’ program policies and procedures
- Develop an implementation plan and master schedule that reflects the program priorities
- Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully
- Develop recommended actions and assist in resolving disputes relative to design and construction
- Provide management of program logistics, organization, safety, quality and manpower utilization
- Anticipate and manage issues by bringing authority to the team and leverage lessons learned from experience
- Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
- Employee development, including coaching, mentoring, supervisory and training techniques
- Responsible for timely completion of all deliverables required by clients
- Financial reporting to clients and Area Manager
- Develop and review contract documents
- Develop and implement a program quality management system
- Document and report all program/project data accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage program controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client
- Track all program and project level status and provide management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing and other related contract requirements
- Create and present program and project data clearly to multiple internal and external stakeholder groups
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success
- Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture is required
- Ideal candidates will possess 15+ years of recent experience providing project and program management services on Higher Education, Justice/Essential Services or Government markets.
- Experience in managing the full construction project life-cycle: including pre-construction, construction and the post-occupancy phases
- Advanced knowledge and application of master planning, procurement, project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, contracts and delivery methods are required
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment is critical
- Experience in leading a team of 20+ individuals
- CMAA - Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is preferred
