Job description

The Receiving Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and Senior Supervisor. They have the overall responsibility for directing and overseeing all activities in the Receiving department pertaining to incoming/outgoing products. In addition, supervise receiving personnel, providing leadership and guidance to those that are involved with loading and unloading of product from trailers. This position includes manual labor and extensive time standing.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure accuracy of item description and counts for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure accuracy when filling out Manifest/Bill of Lading.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintain Seal Log for both incoming and outgoing deliveries.
  • Record and file all incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders.
  • Ensure all Logs are maintained and filed appropriately
  • Ensure trucks are unloaded/loaded in a timely manner and maintain detention times to a minimum.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
  • Directs the safe and cost-effective operation of warehouse receiving. Schedules and maintains warehouse receiving personnel.
  • Maintain open channel of communications with internal departments.
  • Unload, Verify, Record, and Label all Cross-Dock Pickups.
  • Ensure all GMPs and Safety Policies are being adhered to in department.
  • Will physically assist in loading and unloading of the trucks.
  • Assist in other departments as needed
  • Ensures friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.

  • Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-year similar experience
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and vendors,
  • Written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Mathematical knowledge to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies.
  • Basic understanding of DOT, OSHA, EEOC and other related regulatory agencies and laws
