Cold-Link’s warehousing network has recently expanded with a brand-new 150,000 sq ft state-of-the-art temperature-controlled facility in Holland, MI and we are actively recruiting/hiring now for a skilled Maintenance Technician with experience in ammonia refrigeration systems.
Reporting to the Facility & Equipment Maintenance Manager, the Refrigeration & Facility Maintenance Technician will perform activities that maximize the efficient operations of our warehouse refrigeration systems. Additionally, this position will perform a variety of facility and equipment maintenance tasks in support of our team’s Key Performance Areas, including Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Profitability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, initiate, coordinate and monitor assigned facility and equipment maintenance activities within a temperature-controlled warehousing environment
- Maintain and optimize all aspects of the facility’s industrial ammonia refrigeration system, including water treatment towers, condensers, evaporators and other engine room components
- Comprehend and translate mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals
- Maintain assigned interior/exterior facility and equipment systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, dock doors, dock levelers, lighting, racking, and roof
- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance of electric-powered Material Handling Equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks and battery charging systems
- Support and promote quality and yield improvements throughout the Maintenance department, including Planned Scheduled Maintenance (PSM) compliance audits
- Assist Management in creating, reviewing and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities
- Ensure health, safety and industry policies and standards are kept in compliance, including maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Build and support good partnerships with all internal/external stakeholders, including team members and contracted service providers
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two-year Associates degree in mechanical or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of all facility and equipment maintenance concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, HVAC and related applications
- Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, electrical, and micro compressor control systems
- Experience with utilizing calibration equipment, such as RTD calibrators, digital multi-meters, etc.
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work in elevated areas (roof, scissor lift, boom lift etc.)
- Willingness to work with/around Hazardous Materials, including ammonia, solvents and cleaning solutions
- Basic computer skills and willingness to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- CARO or CIRO Certification a plus
Working Conditions: mix of office setting and temperature-controlled warehouse environment (temperature ranges from outside ambient to -10 degrees F)
Travel: Minimal travel required. Must have an acceptable driving record according to Company guidelines.
