The San Francisco VAMC (SFVA) is a Level 1a major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). Procedural care is provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. MED/SURG care is provided at the Fort Miley Campus. Home-Based Primary Care is provided in the veteran’s home.

NURSE I / LEVEL 2 - Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with 1-year RN experience.

NURSE I / LEVEL 3 -Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with 2-3 years RN experience. Or Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with 1-2 years’ RN experience. Or a BSN with 1-2 years RN experience.

NURSE II –BSN with 2-3 yrs RN exp. Or -Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor’s degree in a field related to Nursing. Or MSN or Masters’ in a field related to Nursing with a BSN or bachelor’s in a field related to Nursing. Or an MSN from Bridge Program, with 1-2 years RN exp.

NURSE III –MSN or Masters’ in a field related to Nursing with a BSN or bachelors’ in a field related to Nursing or an MSN from Bridge Program with 2-3 years RN experience.

DUTIES

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborates with services internal and external to the VA to facilitate care transition in order to effectively meet the patients' needs.
  • Provides patient and family health education with a focus on self-management, prevention, and wellness, based on the patient's goals.
  • Demonstrates leadership by serving as an advocate for patients, and a team leader with colleagues as she/he continues to enhance his/her own and the team's professional growth, development and practice.
  • Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care.
  • Uses sound clinical judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating nursing care, based on the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $108,500.00 - $172,500.00 per year
