School Crossing Guard position is available at the following locations:
Ben Davis Road - Armstrong Elementary
Under general supervision, assists children to safely cross streets in a safe and orderly manner.
Monitors traffic to determine safe crossing of students and pedestrians at designated crossing areas.
- Utilizes metal stop sign and proper hand signals to stop and control traffic.
- Adheres to regulations and guidelines governing school crossings.
- Monitors safety of pedestrians using assigned crosswalk.
- Reports problems with students, parents, strangers or traffic.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings.
- Knowledge of traffic control devices.
- Skill in working with the public, especially children.
- Skill in effective oral communication.
- No previous experience required.
