BASIC FUNCTION

The Senior Strategic Marketing Analyst is responsible for investigating new markets to pursue, identifying opportunities to optimize or grow our business strategically (e.g., new projects, products, or capabilities), and conduct pricing analysis to identify areas of margin improvement. This individual should be able to work very collaboratively across all levels of the organization internally, as well as with external resources to conduct these analyses and develop executive level presentations to deliver these recommendations to the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Investigates new markets and develops recommendations to executive leadership to drive strategic business decisions
• Collaborates internally across the organization to compile customer and market intelligence to support strategic analysis Partners with National Sales, Regional Sales, Marketing and Technical Managers to develop sound business strategies and understand strategy implications on industry leading customers
• Develops and leverages external resources to gain market intelligence and gains expertise on market areas of interest that we do not actively participate in.
• Work with Senior Business Advisor to develop strategic recommendations to optimize business (e.g. improve margin, decrease risk, etc.) based on analysis of existing business and understanding of operational capabilities, cost, and limitations - and works with business leadership to implement recommendations.
• Evaluates customer, product, and market mix understand areas of risk or opportunity that need to be addressed through commercial action Understands asset base, limitations, and capabilities to identify areas of commercial and operational synergy or risk.
• In working with Senior Business Advisor, conducts pricing analysis on existing business and develops plans for improving margin or decreasing commercial risk
• Assist Management with special projects, as assigned.

• Candidate must be able to collaborate very effectively across all functions and levels within the organization, to build trust and gain understanding of various topics
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to navigate complex business situations and logically and systematically build out a framework to address the question and develop actionable recommendations
• Effective presenter capable of delivering clear, concise presentations with clear conclusions, justification, and recommends.
• Able to navigate excel data comfortably, and use formulas, pivot tables, and macros as needed to effectively draw conclusions based on complex data

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• B.S. degree in chemistry or engineering is required.
• Ideal candidate would have technical or commercial industry experience, and/or strategy consulting experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in business, marketing, management, chemistry, engineering, or related field

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the incumbent to:

• Follow safety requirements for the role
• Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
• Lift up to 10 pounds
• Walk safely in and around industrial areas
• Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
