This posting is to establish an Eligibility List for Elementary through Secondary level Site Coordinators. Employees in this position work 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months per year and shall qualify for district contributed health insurance, sick days, paid time off and membership to CalPERS for retirement benefits.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the administrative direction of the principal and Program Coordinator, the Site Coordinators are responsible for the coordination, administration and operation of an elementary and /or middle school site based after school program involving the local community and its resources to facilitate academic and instructional growth of students by developing and providing enrichment activities to support and foster academic progress.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The class of Site Coordinator for the Pasadena LEARNS Program is distinguished from other Program Coordinator classifications in that positions in this class are grant-funded positions; are responsible for District-wide site-based programs to deliver enrichment activities provided to students outside the regular student attendance day/week, including holidays; work cooperatively with the principal and a variety of community resources, including the Partnership for School Age Children, to provide an enriched supplemental learning environment.
Site Coordinators will provide supervision to students, volunteers, and non-certificated support staff, and sub-contractors involved in program activities after normal school hours, including weekdays, week-ends, holidays and breaks.
Positions in this class are distinguished from other positions responsible for site-based program administration, operation and development in that the incumbents of this class are providing services in a volunteer student enrichment program operating outside of the regular school day and are responsible for supervising the delivery of after-school instruction by contracted staff.

Education: The equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university is required; possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in working with youth and community organizations is required; experience in community organizing and development of programs in a culturally and economically diverse community, working with multiple constituencies and community partners in promoting academic achievement are highly desired.
Equivalency Provision: Two (2) years of additional experience supervising three (3) or more employees working with school aged youth and community organizations may be substituted for the equivalent of an Associate Degree requirement. SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability to speak, read and write a language in addition to English, such as Spanish, Mandarin or Armenian, is highly desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential duties and responsibilities of positions in this class include, but are not limited to:
- Plans, organizes and directs the operation and administration of a specific site-based after school program designed to provide all students with a variety of activities and services designed to increase the number of students meeting or exceeding academic standards
- Strengthen local youth and adult enrichment, learning and services opportunity to create neighborhood resilience, and to reduce drug use, violence, and to improve physical health and safety through enrichment activities outside normal classroom activities and attendance
- Promotes student achievement through coordination of the program rather than through provision of instruction
- Conducts and/or attends meetings and staff training sessions that directly affect the development, planning, coordination and implementation of site enrichment programs
- Plans, organizes and schedules training programs to provide professional growth for staff personnel, volunteers, parents/parent advocates and other staff
- Assists staff and community agencies through coordination and by providing information concerning programs and school linked/school based enrichment programs
- Prepares guides, manuals and bulletins for approval and distribution; assists with coordination of community agencies by providing information, feedback, program data and assistance to community and social agencies, such as those involved in the Partnership for School Age Children, who will be providing services
- Assists in the planning, development and implementation of public and community relations
- Provides program staff with direction and supervision
- Assists with evaluation of program and staff
- Prepares a variety of reports regarding programs
- Manages budget
- Performs other related duties as required

APPOINTMENT
Employees who receive a regular appointment to the class must serve a probationary period of one year of paid service. During this period, an employee must demonstrate an overall satisfactory level of performance; failure to do so shall result in the employee's termination without right of appeal to the Human Resources office.
Appointed candidate shall start at Step 1. Upon completion of 130 days probation and satisfactory evaluation, employee shall be advanced to Step 2. All other step advancement is granted each year after probationary period up to the maximum listed salary. Monthly rates listed on PUSD’s Salary Schedules and/or job bulletins reflect full-time appointment, calculated at eight (8) hours per day. Pay is prorated based on actual hours worked.
