Overview
Tyndale, a growing, 6x Top Workplace and Certified Women Owned Business, is looking for a hands-on Site Reliability Engineer to get involved in exciting technical challenges for overall health (including monitoring of infrastructure, network, and application), analyzing, troubleshooting, and designing vital services, platforms, and infrastructure to support Tyndale members and customers while always keeping in mind about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.
HYBRID/REMOTE: Tyndale supports a strong work-life balance. The Site Reliability Engineer works 1*_ day a week onsite, and 4 days a week remotely_. To be considered, candidates must reside within a commutable distance from Tyndale HQ in Pipersville, PA* for onsite work.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and implementing infrastructure to support Tyndale's custom application and customer website needs, emphasizing scalability and performance measurability. Includes hardware and cloud infrastructure.
- Works with DevOps Engineers to ensure that the software delivery pipeline is as efficient as possible
- Take repetitive, manual, or risky tasks and automate them out of existence
- Independently design and develop tools to aid in operations and automation, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver innovative solutions to complex business and technical challenges
- Effectively communicate with Infrastructure, QA, and Development teams to assist in coordinating mitigation efforts that may be needed.
- Assists the various teams in planning for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, emergency response, and capacity planning.
- Setup and monitor job automation for essential business processes
- Assist in documentation efforts of the Infrastructure and QA/DevOps Teams, including helping to maintain runbooks and SOP
- Practice sustainable incident response, and drive structural improvement using automation and runbooks with blameless postmortems
- Designs best-in-class monitoring frameworks to accomplish end-to-end flow monitoring and noiseless alerting
- Monitors various system logs and metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to evaluate trends, patterns, and future capacity needs
- Driving the Disaster Recovery process
- Perform off-hours maintenance and upgrades as necessary and participate in an on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; associate’s degree or technical certifications preferred
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Ability to succeed in a high-volume environment
- Action orientation and a sense of urgency
- Ability to learn quickly
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in logging and monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Kibana, Splunk, Elastic Search, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, etc
- Proficiency in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission-critical problems within a business or across the firm
- Project management tools such as Jira, Git, and Confluence
- Experience designing and delivering applications using AWS
- Automation skills with python, PowerShell, and/or other languages
- Experience in configuration management and infrastructure provisioning (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform) preferred
- Fundamental technology knowledge on storage concepts (e.g., object/block/file storage, NFS), compute concepts (e.g., different OS environments, virtualization), networking concepts (e.g., DNS, HTTP, TCP, UDP, IP)
