SUMMARY:

The Social Services Compliance Specialist at Volunteers of America-Michigan (VOAMI) is an at-will position that reports directly to the Data and Compliance Manager. This position will be responsible for providing quality improvement support to the agency’s Social Services programs as well as risk mitigation and ensuring each program maintains compliance with internal and external standards.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for keeping VOAMI’s activities within the guidelines, regulations, and ethical expectations of their field
  • Monitor business operations and reporting infractions, reviewing VOAMI policies for possible risks and liabilities and researching legal requirements for new initiatives
  • Provide CARF support for new/existing programs
  • Perform necessary audits, inspections, or reviews
  • Assist in creating, updating, and implementing program policies and procedures
  • Review program operations, processes, procedures, and documents to identify risk and provide quality assurance
  • Monitor program dashboards, input manually gathered data, and provide support for report requests
  • Collaborate across programs to streamline operations and make recommendations based on best practices
  • Work with various technology platforms to provide training, support, and quality control
  • Assist with the development and oversight of mandatory compliance trainings
  • Maintain updated training resources and communicate changes as necessary
  • Review, compile, and report data quality issues to program leadership to maintain program and grant requirements
  • Create and manage user accounts and access to systems
  • Attend required Agency Admin meetings, webinars, and trainings related to systems utilized
  • Maintain updated training resources and communicate changes as necessary
  • Monitor, respond, and resolve staff system issues and escalate issues to system developers as needed
  • Perform testing and quality assurance for applications
  • Conduct routine reporting
  • Provide support for program events and initiatives as needed
  • Regular travel to VOAMI Social Services program sites across Michigan
  • Coordinate with Administrative and Compliance staff and provide support with tasks as needed
  • Support additional compliance initiatives and projects as needed and requested


RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain compliance with all VOAMI policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in a timely and orderly fashion
  • Attend workshops, trainings, conferences, etc. to further knowledge and expertise in CARF and/or general compliance
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Data and Compliance Manager

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with program implementation and/or research
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and has a desire to learn new programs necessary for assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of training/development, technical writing, and general compliance
  • Ability to nurture and maintain professional relationships across departments and programs
  • Ability to prioritize with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to organize and perform work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, public health, information technology, social work, or another related field
  • Preferred two years’ experience in human services or nonprofit agency
  • Must maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and driving record that satisfies insurability requirements.

Environmental Working Requirements:

Work is done in either an on-site or remote office environment with exposure to computer screens. Works closely with Managers and Directors within the Social Services Department. Interacts with a diverse public. May be subjected to interruptions throughout the day. May be subject to hostile and/or emotionally upset public. May be required to travel to remote sites to perform job duties. Travel requirements may be up to 50%.
