Software Developer (Solid Wood Products)
USNR has an immediate opening in the Eugene Oregon facility for a Software Developer. In this role, you will be a member of a team dedicated to developing optimization algorithms for geometric recovery and grading used in solid wood processing in the sawmill. New graduates welcome.

USNR is a global leader in wood processing equipment and technology. Our scanning and optimization systems scan logs, lumber and veneer to determine their precise shape, position, and the location of defects, then compute the most valuable combination of products to produce using advanced algorithms and Deep Learning technologies. Customers worldwide depend on our machines, sensors, and software to make the best use of the material processed.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gathers development specifications to ensure their full range of responsibilities and project requirements are understood prior to beginning a task
  • Develops features from design through to completion. Works with a mentor to understand how their task fits within the broader architecture, project and/or total system. Escalates or seeks help for complex issues
  • Manages their own personal schedule including accurately estimating how long work will take to complete and prioritizing their workload
  • Provides support for legacy systems including troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Follows prescribed coding standards and methodologies
  • When updating code or working on existing projects, reads the existing code and considers the implications to the broader project when making changes
  • Completes required documentation and participates in code reviews
  • Completes unit level quality assurance and resolves defect tracking issues

Skills/experience you should bring with you:

  • Diploma or degree in one of the following areas: technology, computer science, or engineering
  • Expert in C++, and/or C#
  • Visual Studio
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and with customers
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must have a valid passport or be eligible to obtain one

SKILLS THAT WOULD BE AN ASSET:

  • Experience with Deep Learning or Machine Learning
  • Forestry industry experience
  • Experience with a scripting language such as Python is an asset
  • Experience with Git and MS SQL an asset
  • Experience with Embarcadero/C++ Builder

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
