The Technical Product Owner (TPO) works on the Delivery team to analyze, design, build, and support Truist's Commercial Digital Mobile platform. The TPO must have experience with technology product implementations, digital release schedules, and on-going support. Detailed understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC- both waterfall and agile) is also required. This TPO partners with technical, product management to position the organization to transform to meet the challenges of the technology and digital world and may be expected to lead projects supporting the organization. The work will also support existing products by researching product issues and required fixes. This position is a highly visible role with the organization and works closely with the product, PMO and technology Delivery teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Routinely works directly with Tech leaders, their teams, and functional partners on strategic initiatives and to identify strategic business solutions.

2. Analyze, define, and communicate business, technical requirements to cross-functional teams during the software development lifecycle

3. Support the development of technical, digital roadmaps, backlog that reflect client needs/gaps and teammate needs/gaps, as well as foundational technology capabilities and other digital enablers

  • Assisting with the product roadmap planning, ensuring complete visibility for both business and technical items.
  • Act as a technical advisor to stakeholders such as business owners, product managers, scrum masters, and members of other teams.
  • Highlights and helps resolve cross-team architectural dependencies, helps with backlog prioritization and agile ceremonies.
  • In collaboration with business product owner, schedule technical spikes, add and prioritize stories concerning technical debt or technical enablers ahead of dependent functional commitments in the product roadmap.

4. Applies subject-matter or functional expertise and breadth of industry knowledge to research, analyze, design, and/or maintain solutions and/or programs in support of changing business needs.

5. Drives the technical requirements and continuous improvement of the technical solution including creation of all required documentation for agile teams to facilitate continuous delivery.

6. Monitor digital trends. Identify, prioritize and assess experience-related trends, business/service models, and underlying enablers that meet core business needs.
7. Benchmark Truist products and services (with direct and indirect competitive set) to identify pockets of opportunity and areas of best practice for concept testing, prototyping and/or development. Synthesize insights in a meaningful way to share with a cross-section of stakeholders and other partners throughout the organization.

8. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors’ degree in business, engineering, design, or technology field; or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience

2. Three or more years of banking, financial services, digital, or other relevant work experience

3. Two or more years of product, analysis, technology, and/or design experience

4. Comfortable managing concurrent projects in a fast-based, results-driven environment

5. Comfortable with ambiguity, leading work autonomously, and making independent decisions

6. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

7. Well-developed analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

8. Solid understanding of trends in technology and in the financial services industry

9. Ability to learn and translate technically complex concepts into business friendly terminology

10. Considerable tact, diplomacy, and people skills

11. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products, to analyze and communicate complex information to business leadership

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in Technology Delivery, Product Management roles

  • Understanding of web services, micro-services, Data, SQL, ETL, AWS, Mobile/Web technologies, SaaS Products
  • Experience in programming languages, testing, developing proof-of-concepts

2. Understanding and/or Experience in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
