Seeking a traveling ultrasound technician, or sonographer/diagnostic medical sonographer who can balance patient interaction and technological performance with a firm knowledge of anatomy and pathology by working cohesively with a healthcare team.

Areas of coverage: Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs; as well as northside of Chicago and north suburbs such as Glenview, Skokie, Northlake etc.

Description: As a mobile ultrasound technician, you will travel with sonography equipment and technology to different health care facilities and patients' homes to provider ultrasound imaging services to a patient. Your responsibilities will include working with other members if a health care team, such as a radiologist who performs x-ray services to properly diagnose patients, traveling to facilities that need your help, and sometimes marketing yourself to new potential clients. Mobile ultrasound positions require excellent interpersonal skills, a desire to help patients, and familiarity with the technology.

Job Duties:

  • Performing the ultrasound and ensuring the transducer is capturing images correctly
  • Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients to avoid confusion
  • Maintaining ultrasound equipment and sterilizing the room in which the procedure takes place
  • Spreading the ultrasound gel on the surface of the patient's body to cover the internal area being imaged
  • Evaluating the images for their quality, and interpreting what the image captured
  • Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the health care team
  • Maintaining patient records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure

In addition there are physical requirements that typically include:

  • Lifting at least 50 pounds
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Driving
