HPUMC Youth Summer Intern
Highland Park United Methodist Church is now hiring for a Summer Intern at our Mockingbird Campus. Our Summer Intern will support the Youth Ministry in leading students to become deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ. This is a part-time, seasonal position from May 30th through August 17th, 2023; working up to 24 hours per week.
The Youth Summer Intern must thrive in a fast-paced, highly relational, creative environment with tight deadlines and busy schedules.
As with all HPUMC positions, this person is expected to embody the mission of HPUMC each and every day - to help people become deeply devoted followers of Christ. They are also expected to demonstrate the values of HPUMC, which include: (1) being God led, (2) caring for one another, (3) being respectful of our heritage, and (4) being focused on our future.
Reports To: Director of Youth Ministry
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Campus: Mockingbird Campus - Dallas, TX
Working Hours: Part-time, anticipated 24 hours per week
Anticipated Schedule: Sunday 5:00pm – 9:30pm; Monday – Tuesday 10:00am – 2:30pm; Wednesday 1:00pm – 6:00pm; Thursday 10:00am – 3:00pm; (A minimum of a 30-minute non-paid lunch break is required Monday through Thursday).
During certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. Interns must be available to travel and attend our mission trip the week of July 8th – 14th.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
General
- Sunday evening programming o Hospitality
o Games
o Worship
o Teaching
o Preaching or leading table group discussions
- Midweek Programing
o Hangtime on Wednesday afternoons
o Facilitate local mission work weekly with HPUMC Outreach Partner o Relational ministry
- Having contact with students weekly
- Hanging out with students one on one or in a group setting
- Create and execute one summer event o Budgets
o Games
o Promotion material
o Message (if necessary)
- Summer Mission trip preparation
- Summer Mission trip leader
- This position will not manage others.
- Additional duties as assigned
Education & Desired Skills:
- Must pass a background check, drug screen and successfully complete Ministry Safe training
- Must have completed freshman year of college
- Desire to communicate and invest in our students
- Solid work ethic and organizational skills
- Have reliable transportation
Preferred Software Experience:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Google Suite
Physical Demands:
- Sitting Standing
- Speaking Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds Fine Motor Skills
