The Lancaster County Office of Aging is a County government agency located in the heart of Lancaster City. For almost 50 years the agency has focused on “Maintaining the independence and quality of life for Lancaster County’s aging population through information, protection, services, and community support.” We provide a wide range of services such as, home delivered meals, personal care and home support, adult day services, Medicare counseling, employment training, caregiver support, protective services, transportation and daily meals and activities at eight local senior centers. The agency follows a hybrid work plan that permits a mix of remote and “in-office” work time. The Employment Coordinator is permitted to work two days remotely and three days per week in the office. The Employment Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the employment workshop, 55+ job bank and Senior Community Service Employment Program.

Employment Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities- Some of the duties and responsibilities of the Employment Coordinator include:

- Assumes responsibility for the development/coordination of the State Title V employment program including recruitment, program enrollment, career counseling, management of participant timesheets, hours worked per pay period, and corresponding Title V payroll, participant monitoring visits at host agencies, placement of participants and meeting established program performance measures annually.

- Assumes responsibility for the development/coordination of the 55+ Job Bank. Receives and accepts job orders, determines appropriate matches between consumer's employment skills and job specifications. Initiates and pursues job development opportunities with employers. Conducts initial interviews with job seekers.

- Conducts employability skills workshops and subsequently meets as needed with job seekers to determine their skills, work history, job preferences and job searching skills.

Employment Coordinator Minimum Qualifications

- Five years of progressively responsible public contact work or community leadership which involved obtaining, providing and evaluating information concerning employability or employment; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training; or

- One year of experience in employment interviewing, counseling or placement work, occupational guidance or rehabilitation work, and a bachelor’s degree; or

- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Employment Coordinator Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with job seekers, employers, members of the staff, outside agencies, and institutions.

-Ability to coach job seekers in the areas of interview skills and resume writing.

-Demonstrate initiative in reaching out to to perspective employers to secure job openings.

- Ability to plan and organize work, prepare adequate records and reports, set priorities, and maintain a caseload of clients in an effective manner.

Employment Coordinator- Salary and Benefits

Annual salary- $29,406 w/Probationary increase at 6 months and annual
