Job description
Job Purpose:
The position is located in Anchorage and requires a regular Monday through Friday work week. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided. The position may entail a hybrid working arrangement (part office / part remote).
Prepares complete estimates for assigned project(s) of varying sizes and complexity either directly or through subordinate personnel. Minimum supervision is provided when preparing routine proposals.
Essential Job Functions:
- Reviews and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Supports other department personnel as required, may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
- Field walk downs may be required to determine scope, materials and craft requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of multiple disciplines consisting of: estimating techniques; cost control; and ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Ability to attend training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational classes as required by department..
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and alternate.
- Ability to become familiar with the layout of North Slope facilities and to find specific locations easily.
- Possess very strong organization and planning skills.
- Must be a self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in delivery of customer service, and the ability to establish and maintain a rapport and strong working relationship with co-workers and client representatives.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work with personnel in all levels of an organization.
- Projects are Anchorage Fabrication and North Slope Construction, and typically involve multiple work disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expert in process piping systems with demonstrated experience in the piping trade.
- Three to five (3-5) years of estimating, controls and engineering experience or in relevant field
- One (1) year experience working Office Suite programs (i.e. word, excel, & outlook)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.
