Responsibilities
Job Specific Details and Tasks: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Continual, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to any pediatric patient (ages birth to 18), including walk-ins, well child visits, and patients with diagnosis of ADHD/ADD, and asthma
- Maintain a program of comprehensive health to include preventative medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health
- May become the Primary Care Manager for a panel of up to 1,300 patients. Duties will include:
- Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing
- Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans
- Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists
- Approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals.
- Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff
- Providing primary and secondary preventive maintenance care
- Refilling prescriptions
- Completing any forms requested by patient/parent or as required by the military (i.e. overseas clearance, etc.)
- Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities that prove relevant to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of services
- Oversee the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner's clinical practice when the primary medical director is absent from the clinic
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: must have graduated from an approved medical school, completed a residency or fellowship acceptable to the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General, and eligible (awaiting first opportunity) or board certified in pediatric medicine. The candidate must have a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience within the past 2 years ; at least 3-5 years of experience in Pediatric Medicine to include residency and fellow time
- Certification/Licenses: If more than 1 year has passed since residency, Board Certification in Pediatrics is required. If new graduate, he/she must pass the board certification test as soon as available but no later than 2 years after graduating
