Job description

Responsible for maintenance and support of a large number of physical & VMware Unix/Linux servers that provide a wide range of services, some of which include: Radius; ServAssure; Cacti; Nagios; EMS; Conexon; Apache; Speedtest; various custom built programs. Configuring networking equipment and OSPF & BGP throughout the enterprise. Performing software upgrades for edge equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and troubleshoot existing technologies (routing, CMTS, DSL, FTTP, Metro Ethernet, and various software).
• Provide Tier 3 support to BBTS, I&R, NPS & our CNOC teams.
• Maintain Unix/Linux servers and various services including Nagios; CEMS; Cacti; Conexon; Serv-Assure; Radius; Home-Grown tools; DHCP; specific vendor EMS solutions.
• Provide support for team members as well as members of other teams within the enterprise.
• Configure, install & test Metro Ethernet & T1 circuits
• Maintain & document IP addresses, circuits, and equipment using Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio.
• Assist in major & minor projects.
• Monitor network/server infrastructure.

REQUIREMENTS

• Associate's degree preferred or related work experience.
• Three years networking required & 1 year of Linux/Unix experience. Understanding of network protocols (IPv4, ICMP, ARP, DHCP).
• Strong technical problem solving and analytical skills.

Proficient in the following Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols; IPv4, ICMP, TCP/UDP, DHCP, OSPF, RIP & ARP.
Proficient in routing & switching technologies. Excellent competencies in planning, organization, time management, written & oral communication. Microsoft Excel, Word & Visio

• Network & OS based certifications are desired (JNCIx, N+, CCNx, Linux+, etc.)
