General Overview

The Clinical Educator must be knowledgeable about a) the clinical disorders that are common among residents of the OCDI Jr; b) developmental issues facing youth in the program; c) the ERP treatment model, in particular with regard to teaching and coaching exposure skills to residents and staff; d) providing services in a group format. The Clinical Educator must also be comfortable receiving and providing feedback and providing peer supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide group programming for residents, with supervision provided by members of the clinical team
  • Complete all documentation required for group programming
  • Provide education support during study hall for residents with academic requirements
  • Provide support, motivation, and team-building to the CRC staff.
  • Assist the Directors in education and training regarding exposure coaching, cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, milieu management (including boundary and limit setting), and planning milieu activities.
  • Support ongoing development/implementation/documentation of new CRC orientation and training.
  • Attend weekly supervision with a member of the clinical team
  • Attend rounds weekly
  • Assist in scholarly and programmatic activities
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff and CRCs to ensure optimal implementation of treatment programs and overall clinical quality.
  • Assist CRC staff in planning and coordinating evening and weekend activities
  • Assist CRC staff with problem-solving regarding milieu management. Ensure availability of adequate, updated policies and procedures related to managing emergencies on the unit.

Education: Bachelors degree and experience with mental health challenges in a residential setting required

  • Experience with residential milieus, adolescents/young adults, and/or OCD strongly preferred
  • Experience providing services in a group setting preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation,
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to provide, receive, and incorporate feedback.
