Job description
Primary function will be to promote park usage awareness to the public to ensure safety, compliance and enjoyment of city parks, its amenities and facilities. Park Service Agent will also educate and inform the public about park rules/regulations and provide excellent customer service for all guests who have confirmed reservations. Service Agent will inspect facilities and park grounds and perform required grounds maintenance and report any safety violations to the appropriate staff that cannot be immediately addressed.
- Ability to work alone and confidently address park reservations, athletic events, special events and visitor(s) who may not be complying of park policies and city ordinances
Performs routine maintenance to include trash, debris removal, disinfecting hard surfaces and play areas
Responsible for maintaining assigned vehicle to ensure operable condition for daily field use- Provides accurate and timely report writing, daily logs, and other administrative duties
- Document park issues by photograph and by written report
- Participate in active and directed park patrol, seeking out voluntary compliance through education
Coordinate by email with park maintenance to alert them of issues in the parks- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication with supervisor, other staff, and management
Maintain professionalism at all times- Serve as a liaison for Parks and Recreation working with University Park Police and other City Departments
Make 911, 311 calls as needed. Report and document these types of calls as they relate to park issues
Contribute to the team by accomplishing related tasks to get results and meet department goals
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will work in extreme temperatures bending, lifting and moving pieces of equipment in order to complete work or make repairs. Employee will be exposed to chemicals while maintaining parks. Position required to work weekends, holidays and evenings to ensure park compliance at peak times.

Strong ability to effectively communicate with park patrons, citizens who may ask for information.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Ability to read and understand park reservation schedules, work orders and equipment manuals. Requires basic PC skills for word processing and development of spreadsheets and reports. Ability to access reservation software to verify and print confirmed reservations. Skilled to effectively communicate with the public verbally and in writing and to investigate service request, recommending appropriate action. Skilled in the operation of hand tools and equipment such as blowers, mowers, gas powered trimmers, saws and other gardening and maintenance tools.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Associates degree or higher preferred.
Six months to one year of customer service experience developing resolutions to customer complaints and concerns required. Additional experience in customer service, conflict resolution and basic park and recreation operations a preferred.
Experience conducting field/park inspections preferred.
