Specific Responsibilities:

  • Formulates strategies, initiatives and critical performance metrics to:
  • Grow profits.
  • Develop new product offerings (print, digital and events).
  • Continuously improve editorial print, event and digital content.
  • Provide direction and support to Audience Development/Subscriber personnel to grow paid and qualified print and digital subscribers and related revenue.
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with customers and seek their input to improve and enhance products, and to grow the business.
  • Identify new customers and develop strategies to contact and secure their business to increase ad sales, event attendance, event ticket sales, and sponsorships..
  • Effectively manages multiple projects to achieve long-term and short-term goals while best utilizing resources and appropriately setting expectations.
  • Events - Formulates strategies, initiatives and critical performance metrics to:
  • Grow profits.
  • Develop new product offerings.
  • Grow attendance, sponsorships, booth sales and new product inventory such that strategies and tactics are challenging, realistic, and meet objectives.
  • Community and Industry Engagement & Presence
  • Serves as the public face of In Business; actively networks with business, community and industry leaders to strengthen the In Business brand; hosts all assigned events/functions.
  • Measurably promotes organization in industry and trade organizations; identifies trends and future opportunities.
  • Plans and develops public relations policies designed to improve brand image and relations with customers, employees, and public; results generate measurable improvements in brand visibility.
  • Management
  • Regularly meets with direct reports to: discuss overall business context, plans, and problems; build understanding of how their roles connect to the organizations mission and vision; and seek feedback.
  • Develops and executes plans and budgets for achieving departmental/unit goals.
  • Assigns tasks so employee owners know what is required of them (quality and quantity), by when and what resources are available.
  • Appraises how effectively employee owners use their judgment and discretion in their role; creates an ongoing dialogue with them about the appraisals.
  • Coaches employee owners to increase their effectiveness and develop strengths in their role.
  • Continuously improves systems and processes.
  • Recommends team additions and dismissals; solicits, screens and selects candidates for consideration.
  • Effectively orients and trains new employee owners into role requirements, working relationships, company requirements and culture.
  • Identifies developmental opportunities for employee owners.
  • Utilizes the frame-work and practices of the Great Game of Business, educates, coaches and trains In Business employee owners on Key financial metrics, financial performance, strategic objectives and tactical plans to ensure all are focused on ensuring the business is successful.
  • Seek advice and counsel from the Human Resources department for issues relating to personnel, benefits and policies.
  • Actively participates in all safety training sessions, applies safe practices to job tasks, and reports all safety-related concerns and incidents to Human Resources as quickly as possible.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO & President.

Knowledge: Bachelors degree in business, journalism, or related field. Minimum 5 years progressive managerial experience in media sales, journalism, event planning, or equivalent role. Experience in strategic planning and business management with a track record of achieving strategic financial objectives. Previous experience in providing creative ideas, capabilities or innovations.
