Job description
We are seeks a Quality Engineer to improve production processes for current and future products in accordance with current certification to the ISO 9001:2015 standards.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of optical, electronic, and basic mechanical components as relevant to a manufacturing environment. Other necessary quality engineering skills include formulating a strategic plan to increase productivity, the ability to document and present results to the quality group, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and train manufacturing personnel to inspect and analyze product quality.
- Provide critical feedback to the design team for necessary improvements to increase manufacturability and overall product quality.
- Ensure all products manufactured adhere to the highest quality standards of the company and industry.
- Investigate failure modes and root causes
- Formally document all findings and results for process improvements.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, including efficiency and speed.
- Analyzed collected production data to identify bottlenecks, yield issues, and improvement opportunities
- Work with the manufacturing engineer to resolve issues and delays in production.
- Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.
- In collaboration with Quality Manager, prepare and host quality audits as required
- Research, recommend and lead implementation of emerging quality standards that should apply to Luna products and target markets (i.e. aerospace, etc)
Qualifications
- Five years prior experience as a quality engineer or similar role.
- Degree in Optical, Electrical, Mechanical or other Engineering; post-graduate degree is a plus
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
- Familiarity with ISO-9001(2015) and other industry quality standards
- Familiarity with optical and electronics manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
- Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
- Well-versed in MS Office
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, LabVIEW, Python a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to train and engender enthusiasm for quality policy adherence among production staff
