We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative individual to join us as a Senior Sourcing Specialist, Direct Strategic Sourcing as part of the Supply Chain organization based in Santa Monica, CA or Frederick, MD. The Senior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting sourcing activities in alignment with business requirements under the direction of the Category Leads. The Senior Sourcing Specialist will support the direct materials and services categories which including raw materials, packaging, supplies, logistics, contract testing labs, and contract manufacturing. The Senior Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day interactions with our 3rd party suppliers to ensure the quality, reliability, and continuity of supply of the direct materials & services utilized at Kite’s manufacturing and development areas. This position will enable our category teams to plan and execute the end-to-end category management process.

Responsibilities of the Senior Sourcing Specialist – Direct Materials and Services include:

  • Manage sourcing requests and internal Kite Item Requests

  • Onboards suppliers and materials into the ERP system

  • Serves as the SME (subject matter expert) for the Go to Market Process (RFI, RFP, RFX) including eSourcing tools

  • Works closely with cross-functional stakeholders to address their needs and ensure AQSCI from the supplier base

  • Conducts financial analysis to support negotiations, category strategy, business case development, savings initiatives, and sourcing activities

  • Administration of Confidently Agreements under the direction of the Category Leads

  • Engages with various Tech Ops functions such as Manufacturing, Planning, Logistics, PD, MSAT and Quality for appropriate programs and projects

  • Partners with Category Leads to drive Supplier Diversity, Sustainability, Savings, Inflation Mgmt, and other sourcing initiatives

  • Represents Direct Strategic Sourcing for select ERP system migration activities

  • Responsible for administration of contract management process (contract workflow, status tracking, etc.)

  • Works with cross functional teams to reconcile PO, Receipts, and Invoices for payment and communicate with supplier, Planning, Sourcing & Category Mgmt., Quality, Requestors, Manufacturing & Warehousing, and Accounts Payable to resolve open issues in a timely manner

  • Facilitate supplier escalations and issues and coordinates resolution with internal stakeholders

  • Requests quotes, samples, and production of first articles for evaluation of new product designs and potential suppliers

  • Work with Category Leads to execute sessions for Supplier Relationship Management / Supplier Engagement Model

  • Supports the development of category/procurement strategies through, voice of the customer, total cost of ownership analysis, market analysis, supplier segmentation, category roadmaps and more

  • Maintains the pricing, taxonomy, and other vendor master data for Category Leads utilizing GPLM and other tools

Basic Qualifications:

MA / MS degree with 3+ years of Supply Chain and/or Operations and/or Purchasing experience

OR

BS / BA degree with 5+ years of the aforementioned experience

OR

High School degree with 9+ years of the aforementioned experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years’ experience of purchasing of raw materials, packaging, supplies, consumables, lab, logistics and services

  • 3+ years’ experience in regulated industries, preferably with an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, its quality requirements and GMPs

  • 2+ years’ experience coordinating or contributing to Change Control process within regulated industries

  • Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle and or SAP preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated financial acumen

  • Ability to effectively use and present data through MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and other Reporting Tools

  • Ability to build positive relationships and partnerships internally and with external suppliers

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented who collaborates well in a cross-functional matrix environment with an ability to communicate and work independently with scientific/technical personnel

  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced expanding company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Ability to travel up to 10% to Kite facilities located in US occasionally
