This position reports to the Vice President of Distribution Mid-America Region. Manager is responsible for daily operations and cost controls of the transportation department, ensuring that both customer service and internal measurements are held to the highest standard. Direct reports include transportation supervisors. Oversee Sikeston and domicile drivers.
Expense and Productivity – Monitor all facets of department activities to ensure that productivity and expense controls are consistent with budget goals and objectives.
Human Resources – Maintain a non-union environment which fosters an atmosphere that encourages teamwork among employees, promotes superior levels of achievement, and reduces employee turnover. Maintain acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.
Asset Management – Monitor proper use of equipment and utilization of manpower to achieve facility goals. Maintain an efficient fleet of equipment and control inventory shrinkage. Develop the transportation department’s annual operating budget and achieve its objectives.
Compliance – Comply with all federal, state and local regulations. Meet the goals and objectives established by our corporate compliance process. _:

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Customer Service – Provide all customers served by this facility with quality products and services in a timely, accurate manner which is consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
Expense and Productivity – Monitor all facets of department activities to ensure that productivity and expense controls are consistent with budget goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Ensure freight delivery process is consistent with corporate goals.
- Respond to customer and sales inquiries in a timely manner.
- Promote superior customer service throughout the workforce.
- Limit product damages, shortages, and undelivered merchandise.
- Meet customer expectations regarding consistent delivery and professionalism.
Expense and Productivity
- Prepare an annual operating expense budget for the department.
- Maintain acceptable labor expense ratios.
- Measure and monitor quality and service levels to our customers.
- Communicate service and operational deficiencies to the Vice President of Distribution.
- Determine best use of capital assets required to meet operational goals and objectives.
Human Resource Management
- Ensure staff levels are maintained to provide superior customer service with minimal interruption to our customers.
- Promote teamwork and superior levels of achievement throughout the distribution region.
- Minimize employee turnover, retain good employees, and assist with recruiting
- Achieve acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.
- Develop individual team members through coaching and correcting.
- Uphold, support and maintain company safety standards.
- Maintain a non-union work environment.
- Development of Supervisors and Hourly team members.
Asset Management
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order through proper use and preventive maintenance.
- Meet delivery expectations through efficient, effective use of staff.
- Develop and maintain standards that promote employee health and safety while reducing damage to inventory.
- Partner with other departments on day to day functions.

Skills and Qualifications
- Post secondary education is preferred. Experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
