Responsibilities and Duties

As a Teacher:

  • Plans, prepares and delivers instructional activities.
  • Creates a positive educational climate in which students can learn.
  • Establishes clear expectations for behavior and procedures.
  • Actively participates in professional development activities.
  • Differentiates for students as needed to meet the needs of the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Maintains accurate records and meets reporting deadlines.
  • Creates classroom displays/projects designed to enhance learning.
  • Collaborates with team members to integrate the arts into other content areas.
  • Designs and implements both formative and summative assessments appropriate for student learning aligned to instructional goals and adapted as needed for student needs.
  • Demonstrates an emphasis of equitable learning opportunities for all students.
  • Demonstrates appropriate and highly respectful interactions between teacher and students and among students.
  • Maintains an orderly classroom with appropriate arrangement of furniture and storage that supports equal and safe access to all learning resources.
  • Maintains positive parental contact with all students assigned to his/her class roster.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism as it relates to punctuality, performance of duties, dress and demeanor.
  • Demonstrates full adherence to school and district policies, procedures and regulations and Pennsylvania's Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.
  • Supports and participates in school initiatives and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As a Special Educator

  • Foster a student-centered learning environment.
  • Prepare lessons according to students’ individual goals and achievement levels.
  • Offer regular consultation to support fully-included students.
  • Appropriately handles confidential information.
  • Collaborates with teachers, counselor, related service providers, administration and other faculty to ensure IEP accommodations are met.
  • Assures the implementation of modifications and accommodations as per students’ IEPs.
  • Maintains accurate records regarding progress monitoring, teacher input and IEP documents.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with team members, including administrators, related service practitioners, teachers and parents.
  • Ensures compliance regarding meeting dates, documentation and communication with families and other professional staff.
  • Drafts appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the students’ IEP team, such as school psychologists, general education teachers and education specialists, related service providers and families.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends, skills and knowledge through special education related professional development.

Reports to: Principal

Job Qualifications

  • Experience teaching instrumental music required.
  • Degree in Special Education required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Certification required.

This is a Full-Time, 10 month position offering a comprehensive benefit package including Medical,
Dental, and Vision. Salary: $44,000 w/Bachelor’s Degree; $46,000 w/Master’s Degree

Professional references are required.

The following clearances and documents will be required prior to the first day of employment, to be obtained at the cost of the applicant. Failure to provide these clearances and documents within a reasonable time frame will result in withdrawal of job offer.

  • Act 151: Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA State Police Request for Criminal Records Check
  • Act 114: Federal Criminal History Record Information
  • Act 24: Reporting Arrests and Convictions
  • Act 168: Employment History Review (no fee)
  • Physical Examination completed within one year on the PA State Standard form.
  • TB test results completed within 3 months by a doctor on the PA State Standard form.
  • Act 31: Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
