Summary

This position orders materials, tools, equipment, and supplies and tracks inventory for the field crews from the zones. Work involves distributing parts and supplies; checking inventory levels to ascertain if reordering is needed; updating system regarding invoices, requisitions, and purchases; sending equipment out to be repaired as needed; transferring parts among crew trucks as needed; and fueling equipment. This position meets with vendors; greets and escorts visitors around the facility; monitors gates; and sets up conference rooms for meetings.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Purchases, receives, and maintains supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Issues tools, parts, materials, and supplies; ensures crew members complete
requisition forms accurately.
  • Performs data entry of inventory issues and receipts.
  • Determines re-order points to ensure proper inventory levels.
  • Receives and processes invoice for payment of supplies, parts, and materials.
  • Delivers supplies/materials to worksite as needed.
  • Works stand-by once every five weeks to provide parts and supplies to crews.
  • Rents equipment as needed for field crews.
  • Makes minor repairs to tools and equipment.
  • Coordinates mid-year and annual inventory count.
  • Meets with vendors as needed.
  • Enters requisitions into database; creates purchase orders.
  • Greets and escorts visitors around facility.
  • Monitors gates.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of computers and software related to position.
  • Skill in operating a forklift and other stockroom equipment.
  • Skill in determining best price practices.
  • Ability to maintain records
  • Ability to read and interpret parts in catalogs according to ordering procedures.
  • Ability to acquire a City driving permit.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is medium work and requires applying 30 pounds of force frequently and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: climbing, manual dexterity, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, distinguishing among sounds, kneeling, lifting, reaching, standing, talking, visual acuity in data/equipment, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
  • Two (2) years of related work experience, preferably in warehouse and inventory
control.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
  • Requires a valid driver’s license

Salary

$44,329.00 - $49,253.00 Commensurate with experience

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
