The Teacher Assistant works in the classroom;

• carrying out classroom activities,.
• shares in the responsibility of recordkeeping with the Lead Teacher.
• provides a safe and healthy learning environment for children.

Minimum Qualifications of the Teacher Assistant

• Associates Degree in Education or related field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in coursework related to ECE.
• 1 year of experience in a preschool setting.
• A valid NYS driver’s license.
• Medication Administration Training certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:

• Assists in ensuring the agency meets all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Models positive child development practices
• Supports and assists in planning daily activities for children
• Welcomes parents and other visitors to the center.
• Helps establish a safe and healthy learning environment in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and New York State Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Licensing Regulations.
• Assists the Teacher Director in writing observational notes for all children and records them in Teaching Strategies GOLD.
• Assists with establishing Individual Plans for children and lessons.
• Support in maintaining a classroom environment that encourages independence and meets the developmental needs of the children.
• Covers in the classroom in Teacher/Director’s Absence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.46 per hour
