OPERATIONS MANAGER JOB SUMMARY
Operations Manager directs, develops, and implements overall operations of warehousing including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all warehousing activities. This is an Operations position responsible for directing the activities associated with shipping, receiving, warehousing, and repacking. This position reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that management staff is effectively managing the day-to-day shipping and receiving activities, including but not limited to quality control, accuracy in selection, timeliness in selection, strong attendance, etc.
- Identify and implement efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures
- Creating, developing, and measuring KPI’s
- Evaluate and implement metrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations
- Work with computer software tech to develop effective ways to track metrics
- Prepare work schedules including extra workdays and shifts as needed
- Observe the effectiveness of daily routing activities to ensure all established sales/customer satisfaction goals are met
- Preserve associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings, maintain on-going interaction with delivery and supervisory staff, and ensure staff adhere to company Core Values.
- Keep open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures
- Submit and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement
- Interpret, train and consistently enforce company policies and procedures
- Coordinate efforts with the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections
- Execute management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations
- Coordinate required repairs with proper departments as necessary, oversee the proper selection, purchase, and utilization of company assets in support of the delivery department.
- Support Food Safety Manager with preparation of Food Safety Audits by reinforcing and implementing required activities
Qualification and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; High School diploma required
- 5+ years previous warehouse experience required
- Manufacturing experience a plus
- Previous management experience required
- Good communication, organizational, time management mathematical skills
- Dependable and reliable
- Inventory, equipment maintenance, data entry and computer skills may be required
- Enjoys identifying and solving problems
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-75 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
- Safely operate electric pallet jacks and possibly a reach machine, and to push or pull a hand truck
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus
- Specific hearing abilities required for this job include adequate hearing over a loud work environment in which several pieces of machinery are frequently running including pallet jacks, large shipping vehicles, motors, engines, etc.
- Frequently required to enter and exit large refrigerated coolers, as well as work in warehouse open to outdoor temperatures during shipping and/or receiving. Must be able to tolerate working in temperatures ranging from 25 degrees up to 100 degrees; work environment may be cool and wet
- Ability to multitask, reprioritize, and to make quick decisions and follow commands of supervising staff
- Meet attendance standards

Pay: $65,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
